GrowSocialCo

A Later alternative that posts to WhatsApp groups

Later describes itself as “Unforgettable campaigns start with insight. Influencer marketing built for creators and designed for results, with a social scheduler alongside it.”. Everything this page says about Later was checked against its own site, documentation and public repository on , and is sourced below.

Later has repositioned around influencer marketing, and plain scheduling now lives at a sub-page rather than its homepage. Its scheduler covers eight mainstream profiles per social set, none of them WhatsApp, Discord or Telegram. If you run creator campaigns and need a media library, Later is well ahead of us. If you need to reach a group chat, it does not go there.

Where GrowSocialCo and Later actually differ Later reaches a platform we do not. It is just not one your community sits in.

Later is not competing for this anymore

Open Later’s homepage and it does not offer to schedule your posts. It offers to run influencer campaigns, leads with insight and creator partnerships, and puts its numbers about influencer-driven purchases in front of you.

The scheduler still exists. It has been moved to its own sub-page, and you have to go looking for it.

That repositioning is the most useful fact on this page, because it tells you what Later intends to be good at now, and a company generally gets better at the thing its homepage is about.

What the scheduler reaches

Later sells scheduling in units it calls social sets. One set is one profile from each supported platform: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. Eight profiles.

Snapchat is worth pausing on, because it is the one platform in this whole comparison that Later reaches and we do not. If Snapchat matters to you, that is a real point in its favour and no amount of community-channel coverage makes up for it.

What a social set does not contain: WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, Slack. The set is a list of visual consumer feeds, which fits a product built around Instagram and grown outward from there.

That absence is the category norm rather than a Later decision. Buffer lists no group chat among its sixteen channels, SocialPilot publishes to ten mainstream platforms and stops there, and Hootsuite connects WhatsApp for conversations instead of posts. Later is the most explicit of the four about which eight platforms you get.

The social-set model assumes a shape

Pricing by social set carries an assumption: that you want one profile per platform, and that growth means adding another brand rather than another room.

A community operation grows the other way. It does not add a second Instagram. It adds a seventh WhatsApp group, then an eighth, because a new cohort started or a chapter opened in another city. There is no unit in Later’s pricing that describes that, because the product was not built to.

Ours is the Postiz open-source base with WhatsApp groups added, and it counts rooms rather than brands. Whether that maps to your setup is the actual question, and it is worth asking before either price matters.

Scheduling as the front door

Later’s own repositioning created a gap we walked into deliberately.

When a buyer types a plain query about scheduling posts, they want the tool to say yes on the first screen. Later now answers a campaign question first, and the plain answer is a click away. Plenty of buyers will not make that click.

We kept scheduling as the front door, and then went narrower still: the first page we built was about a single job, getting a post into a WhatsApp group on a schedule. A narrower front door reaches fewer people and convinces more of them.

Where Later is clearly ahead

The media library. Creator discovery and influencer campaign management, which is a whole product we do not have any version of. Link-in-bio. Years of Instagram-specific depth around visual planning and grid preview, which you only build by being the tool photographers used first.

Later also publishes case studies with named brands and hard numbers, which is a standard of proof this site cannot match yet, because we have four named early customers and no published figures at all.

If your work is visual, campaign-shaped and creator-led, take Later. This page is not trying to talk you out of it.

Where this page goes stale

Later has been moving fast in one direction, and the direction is away from plain scheduling rather than toward group chats. The claim here most likely to age is not the channel list but the positioning, and if Later brings scheduling back to its front door, the section above stops being true.

The date at the top is the last day somebody checked every claim on this page against Later’s own scheduler page, pricing page and homepage, all linked below. Check them yourself, especially the social-set contents, since that is the part that decides whether Later reaches your audience.

If your audience is in group chats, the test that settles it takes one post. You can book a demo and bring the rooms you run.

When Later is the better choice

If your work is visual and campaign-shaped, take Later. Its media library, its creator and influencer side, and its Instagram heritage are real advantages we have nothing to answer with, and it is the only tool in this comparison whose scheduler reaches Snapchat. A brand running paid creator campaigns should not be looking at us.

Questions this raises

Does Later post to WhatsApp?

No. A Later social set covers Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. WhatsApp is not among them, and does not appear on its scheduler page.

Does Later post to Discord or Telegram?

No. Neither appears in a social set or on the scheduler page. Later publishes to mainstream visual feeds, which is what its product has always been organised around.

Is Later still a scheduler?

Yes, but it is no longer the front door. Later's homepage now leads with influencer marketing, and the scheduler sits at its own sub-page. The product is still there and still sold, it just is not the first thing the site tells you about.

What is a social set?

Later's unit of pricing. One social set is one profile from each supported platform, eight profiles in total, and plans are sold as a number of sets plus a number of users, with extra sets and extra users added per month.

What are the best Later social media alternatives?

It depends on what you are replacing. If you want another scheduler for the mainstream visual feeds, this site compares Buffer, Hootsuite and SocialPilot against us the same way. If what Later cannot do for you is reach a group chat, GrowSocialCo is the alternative that posts to WhatsApp groups.

Which one should I pick?

If your posting is visual and organised around campaigns and creators, Later, and it is not close. If your audience sits in group chats, Later has no way to reach them.
