GrowSocialCo

A Postiz alternative that posts to WhatsApp groups

Postiz describes itself as “Run your social media on autopilot with AI agents”. Everything this page says about Postiz was checked against its own site, documentation and public repository on , and is sourced below.

GrowSocialCo is built on Postiz's open-source base, so the calendar, the network list and the posting workflow are close cousins. The difference that matters is WhatsApp: Postiz has no WhatsApp provider at all, and GrowSocialCo posts into WhatsApp groups. If you do not run group chats, Postiz is the simpler choice and you can host it yourself.

Most of this software is the same software

GrowSocialCo is a fork of Postiz. The calendar you plan in, the queue that pushes one post to several accounts, the provider code behind most of the channels: that is Postiz’s work, published under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and we build on top of it.

That is an odd thing to open a comparison page with, so here is why it is the first thing you should know. If you are weighing these two products, the features you would normally compare line by line are mostly shared. Comparing them on “does it have a visual calendar” would waste your afternoon. One difference decides this, and it is the one below.

Postiz does not post to WhatsApp

Not to a group, not to a contact, not at all.

We checked three places on 21 September 2026, and they agree. The network list on the Postiz homepage does not include WhatsApp. The provider pages in the Postiz documentation do not include WhatsApp. The integrations directory in the Postiz source repository, which has one folder per supported provider, has no WhatsApp folder in it.

There is an open feature request asking for WhatsApp channel support, filed in August 2026. Somebody else wants this too. It has not been built.

Meta does document its own official Groups API for approved businesses, separately from anything Postiz or GrowSocialCo builds — its participant limit is 8 per group, which is not the size of the communities either product is aimed at.

Group chat is not the gap. WhatsApp is.

This is where most comparison pages in this category would overclaim, so read this row carefully: Postiz posts into group chats. It posts to Discord server channels through a bot, to Telegram groups and channels, and to Slack channels. So does GrowSocialCo, and for the same reason, which is that we inherited that code.

If somebody tells you no scheduler can post into a community, they have not looked at Postiz. The gap in this category is narrower and more specific than that. It is WhatsApp, which is also where a great many communities live, particularly in India. That gap is the whole reason WhatsApp group scheduling is the page we built first.

What sits on top of the fork

WhatsApp groups as a posting target you connect like any other channel, planned in the same calendar as your Instagram and LinkedIn posts. Template Pro, so a post comes out on-brand without opening a design tool first. An Agent that helps draft what goes out next, so the calendar does not start empty.

The honest framing: these exist because a small team was running its own community channels by hand and got tired of it, not because a roadmap workshop produced them.

The two products are aiming at different things now

Postiz has spent this year pointing itself somewhere specific. It ships a separate command-line agent so that Claude, Cursor or Gemini can schedule posts for you, and its own repository describes it as an agentic scheduling tool. If you want your posting driven from a terminal by a coding agent, that is a product decision aimed straight at you, and it is not one we have made.

We spent the same year on a different axis: the channels a community sits in. Both are real bets, and they are not the same bet. Which one suits you depends on whether the hard part of your week is writing the posts or reaching the people.

Where this page goes stale

Postiz ships quickly. If that WhatsApp feature request lands, the central claim on this page stops being true, and the page changes that week. The date at the top is the last day a person checked every claim here against Postiz’s own site, documentation and source, and every one of those checks is linked below so you can repeat it in ten minutes.

We would rather you did. A comparison page written by the company that benefits from the comparison is worth exactly as much as its sources, which is why they are all listed and dated.

If WhatsApp groups are part of your week, the fastest way to judge this is to watch it post into one of yours. You can book a demo and bring your messiest week of channels.

When Postiz is the better choice

If WhatsApp groups are not part of your week, take Postiz. It does the same scheduling job, and its licence is AGPL-3.0 with no commercial clause bolted on, so you can run it on your own server for the cost of the hosting. We do not offer that today, and nothing here beats free software you control.

Questions this raises

Is GrowSocialCo a fork of Postiz?

Yes. GrowSocialCo is built on Postiz's open-source base, published under the AGPL-3.0 licence, with our own work on top.

Does Postiz support WhatsApp, and can it post to a WhatsApp group?

No. WhatsApp is absent from the network list on its homepage, from the provider pages in its documentation, and from the integrations directory in its source repository. A feature request asking for WhatsApp support was opened in August 2026 and is still open.

Does Postiz post to Discord and Telegram?

Yes, and so does GrowSocialCo. Postiz posts to Discord server channels, to Telegram groups and channels, and to Slack channels. The gap is WhatsApp specifically, not group chat in general.

Which one should I pick?

If WhatsApp groups are part of how you run your community, GrowSocialCo. If they are not, Postiz does the same job, and its licence lets you run it on your own server.
