Post to multiple platforms at once: what the tools reach

Posting to several platforms at once is table stakes: every scheduler does it. What differs is which channels each counts as a platform. Checked against their own documentation on 21 September 2026, Buffer, Hootsuite, SocialPilot and Later all cover public feeds and none reaches a WhatsApp group, Discord server or Telegram channel.

The feature everybody has

If you are searching for a tool that posts to several platforms at once, the good news is that you cannot pick wrong. Every scheduler in this category does it. Write once, tick the accounts, it goes out to all of them.

That has been true for about a decade, which makes it a poor thing to compare tools on. The marketing pages still lead with it because it is the thing people search for, but nobody loses a bake-off over it.

The question underneath it is more specific, and the tools answer it differently: which channels count as a platform?

What each one reaches

We spent a day in September 2026 checking six products against their own documentation rather than against each other’s comparison pages. Every claim below links to the vendor’s own page in the sources block, dated.

Buffer connects sixteen account types: Facebook Pages and Groups, Instagram business, creator and personal, X, LinkedIn pages and profiles, Pinterest business and personal, TikTok, Google Business Profiles, Start Pages, Mastodon, YouTube Shorts, Threads and Bluesky. All public feeds. The Buffer WhatsApp question has its own page, checked channel by channel.

Hootsuite publishes to Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest. It also connects WhatsApp, which matters and is covered below.

SocialPilot publishes to ten: Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile. The SocialPilot WhatsApp question is checked on its own page.

Later sells scheduling in units it calls social sets, each one profile from each of eight consumer platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. If you are weighing Later social media alternatives, that page sets the same limit against WhatsApp groups.

Postiz, which is open source, posts to Discord server channels, Telegram groups and channels, and Slack channels, alongside the mainstream feeds. No WhatsApp, and the Postiz WhatsApp support question is covered on its own page.

The four commercial mainstream tools differ in the details and agree completely on the shape. A platform means a public feed you broadcast into.

The WhatsApp answer is more interesting than it looks

The obvious summary would be that Hootsuite has WhatsApp and the others do not. That summary is wrong in a way worth spelling out, because we believed it for an afternoon.

Hootsuite does connect WhatsApp. What the connection does is put WhatsApp conversations into Hootsuite Inbox, where your team receives and responds to messages alongside Instagram DMs and Facebook comments. It needs a verified business account and administrator access in Meta Business Manager. Its own material describes receiving and responding, and mentions WhatsApp groups nowhere.

So it is a customer-service surface, and a serious one. It is built around a person writing back to another person. Scheduling an announcement into a group chat of four hundred people is a different action, and nothing in the mainstream category does it.

Group chat in general is not the gap

The other thing we got wrong: we had assumed no mainstream scheduler posts to groups at all.

Buffer posts to Facebook Groups. That is a connectable channel type in its own documentation. Postiz posts into Discord servers, Telegram groups and Slack channels, and has for years. Anyone claiming schedulers cannot reach a community has not read the documentation.

The gap is narrower and more specific than that, and narrower is more useful. It is WhatsApp, which is also where an enormous number of communities live, particularly in India. That single gap is why WhatsApp group scheduling is worth treating as its own problem rather than a row on a feature grid.

Posting the same thing everywhere is usually a mistake

A caveat about the feature itself, since this is the page people land on when they want it.

One post to every channel at once works when the channels are similar and the message is neutral. It stops working quickly. A LinkedIn post reads as corporate in a WhatsApp group. Image ratios differ. Character limits differ. The room that opted into a community expects a different voice from the feed that follows a brand.

What is worth having is not one post everywhere. It is one plan everywhere, with the wording adjusted per channel, which is what a content calendar is for. The tool should make the per-channel edit easy rather than make the identical blast easy.

How to choose, given all this

Three questions settle it, in this order.

Does it reach your channels? Write down every account you post to, including the group chats, and check it against the tool’s own documentation rather than its marketing page. If a channel is missing, nothing else about the tool matters.

Does the pricing model match your shape? Per-channel pricing suits a few accounts with a lot on each. Per-seat pricing suits a small team of heavy users and punishes many people doing a little. Per-social-set assumes you grow by adding brands rather than rooms.

Do you need approvals? If a post cannot go out until somebody signs off, that narrows the field fast, and the enterprise tools are better at it.

If your answer to the first question includes a WhatsApp group, the field is small, and you can book a demo to watch a post land in one of yours.

Questions this raises

Which scheduling tools post to multiple platforms at once?

All of them. Buffer, Hootsuite, SocialPilot, Later and Postiz each take one post and push it to several connected accounts. Multi-platform posting has been table stakes in this category for years, so it is not a useful thing to compare tools on.

Can any scheduler post to a WhatsApp group?

Of the tools checked on 21 September 2026, no mainstream one. Hootsuite connects WhatsApp, but as an inbox for one-to-one conversations rather than scheduled posting to a group. GrowSocialCo posts to WhatsApp groups, which is the reason it exists.

Does posting the same thing everywhere work?

Not well. Character limits, image ratios and the tone each room expects all differ, and a post written for LinkedIn reads as corporate in a group chat. The useful feature is not one post everywhere, it is one plan everywhere with per-channel wording.

What should I compare schedulers on instead?

The channel list against your actual channels, the pricing model against the shape of your team, and whether approvals are needed. Those three decide it. Feature checklists rarely do, because the features are largely the same.
